Oh the things I take for granted

Refrigerators!!!!!!! I have been without one since Thursday. This will be #3 in the last 4 years. Maybe 3 years? Oh well, we're in the works for a new one and yes you guessed right....a different brand. And thank the Good Lord I was able to buy the warranty on both of them. It needed a good cleaning out anyway.
It is just little things like this that remind me how blessed I really am.

Nice Evening...

It is such a nice evening here. I tried to take pictures of the sun setting in our neighborhood, but they didn't really turn out so good. I had to ride Logan's bike up the hill to take the pictures. There are too many trees from our back yard. Honestly, I had to push his bike half way up the hill. Hehe! It sure was a fun ride going back down though. Hope everyone has a nice evening.

Back to the usual

I took this picture the other night in front of our house through some trees...just thought it was cool.

School started back today and I must admit it's nice to be back to the norm of things. I'm just grateful to have that considering so many do not have that option. I cannot imagine not having a home or anything to go back to. I am such a "home body" I would just be devastated. Please keep the folks down on the coast in your prayers. C'ya next time!

Future Patio

Our neighbors are landscaping and getting rid of all their bricks around the flower beds. They are giving them to us and we are going to make a patio out of them (or try to). If you know Lonny and I, you know it is the same as giving us gold. Heehee! I told him we were like Sanford and Son.

We have power

Thank goodness our electricity is back on, but most of our neighbors are not so lucky. I cannot believe the damage here in my neighborhood from Ike. At least 5 houses (1 completely destroyed) had trees blown on (in) them and countless trees blown down and over streets. The house that was destroyed belongs to an elderly widow and she had just walked to the other end of the house. You could not even see her house under the tree. She was not hurt just shook up. That is just in our neighborhood. All over town has trees down on houses and streets. 6 of our school campuses have no power and SWEPCO says it might be Friday before they get it back up. From what I've seen on the local news stations, they haven't mentioned much about our city...oh that's right WE'RE NOT TYLER!!! Ok I have vented. LOL Hope everyone else is OK too.
I would post pics but I keep forgetting my camera when I go out.

Here comes Ike!

This picture is from NASA. I thought is was kind of cool looking.

Ike the hurricane is coming on up our way in a few hours. They talk like we will have wide spread power outages. I am washing every piece of laundry and running the dish washer...anything that takes electricity. You never know how long it will take to get it back on.

The poor people in Galveston and Houston and everyone down south are really getting hammered and it hasn't even really hit shore yet. They say this storm is nearly as big as Texas. Now that is pretty big! You know how we are in Texas...everything has gotta be bigger! I guess even our storms.

Moon Flower

My moon vine finally bloomed...this thing is huge! I measured it and it is six inches wide! It smells nice too. Smells like four a clocks or something.

New Blog Look!

My son "remodeled" my blog for me. I fooled with it for hours last night to no avail. He's a genius. :)
Thank you Jayson!

I know we need the rain, but...

I sure would like to see some sunshine. All this drizzle is bringing me down! At least we didn't get what they were predicting from Gustav.

Looks like we're going to have a visitor!

They say Gustav is going to pay east texas a visit.
Could get nasty. 12-15 inches of rain.
